in the waiting

About 6 months ago I moved to a new town.  I’ve been thinking a lot about what is it that God wants me to do here? I’ve had the feeling of stay still for a long while now but I don’t want to stay still. I’ve thought about starting a women’s group but I question if I am wanting to start it for all the right reasons. Of course I want to bring glory to God through anything I do. But are the emotions of missing the ladies in the community I once was part of triggering this?  Is it something I want to start to keep me busy because I am not feeling purposeful at this moment in time?  I am not one that likes to stay still or wait. I don’t want to be in the waiting. I want to be in the now.  However  loud and clear I hear the very first verse of the song “Take Courage” by Kristene DiMarco in my head constantly. “Slow down take time, breath in he said, he will reveal what’s to come.”

God reveals what’s to come.

So why is being in the waiting difficult? I feel a bit like a child, demanding “make this happen” as I snap my fingers. Put together this women’s group. Make it easy for me. Is this what I am even meant to do?

Let’s face it. It’s not always easy. And sometimes it’s discovered it’s not meant to be at this time or not meant to be at all. God will make it known.

Last year I didn’t think I’d even be in this new town. My husband and I had just put our house up for sale as we felt we needed extra space as we were expecting an addition to our family.  A few weeks later I miscarried. Obviously this time did not come easy for us but we put our faith in the Lord. We kept our home up for sale not anticipating that God would place moving to a new town on our plate.  So not what we had in mind. But, God had every detail planned out with some waiting time in between.

And that waiting time prepared us for what was to come.

I need to stop and remember, being in the waiting is something to cherish.  It allows me to take time to bring me closer to God and to line myself up with the vision He has for me.

All I need to do is wait, be patient, and prepare.  God’s vision will prevail.

“Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains.  You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.” James 5:7-8

    1. God certainly has his way of revealing things to us in his time and his way. We just need to keep seeking him. I am so glad God brought you to cross our path as us to yours.
