Throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.
Ephesians 4:22-24
There are several times throughout the year when it feels like a natural clean slate. Of course January 1st. Also, for some is the day after the Super Bowl. For me, the one that seems so natural and so necessary is Easter.
As we walk through the Holy Week, we are reminded of how fickle our human feelings are. Welcoming Jesus on Sunday and calling for His death by Friday.
It is easy for me, my personality type, to get bogged down in the shame and regret I live in. Not only from the distant past, but sometimes from yesterday.
But when I contemplate the cross. All the sin Jesus took on for me. Sitting in shame and regret is meaningless. I have to accept what He did and make peace with the fact that I am very human. That is why I need my Savior every day.
For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?
I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.
Isaiah 43:19
On this Monday after Holy Week. On this Monday after remembering how our Lord conquered sin and death, let’s allow Him to do a new thing in us. Not for us to worry about doing things for Him, but letting Him take His Kingship in our lives.
Draw a line under those things that have held us back. Those things you just can’t give up or forgive in yourself and in others. This is our chance ladies, let’s accept the gift Jesus gave us. Let’s let Him make us new.
And the one sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new!” And then he said to me, “Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true.”
Revelation 21:5
